We are stronger

together

July 6-11, 2025

"Two people are better than one because they get more done by working together. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help, but someone who falls alone is in real trouble." Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Gatekeepers Workcamp began at Lakeside Baptist Church in 1992 as a missions partnership among a consortium of Rocky Mount churches.  2025 was the thirty-fourth consecutive year of Gatekeepers mission projects in Rocky Mount.  July 6-11, we sent out about 50 youth and more than 30 adult volunteers from twelve area churches to repair homes and an additional 40 volunteers who served lunches and refreshments, delivered supplies, and assisted with other aspects of the program.  Over our history, Gatekeepers teams have repaired over 300 homes throughout our community.  Gatekeepers is committed to improving both the physical and spiritual environment for members of the Rocky Mount community.

Our Mission

The Mission of Gatekeepers Workcamp is to provide a hands-on, Christian mission experience for youth in grades 6-12 in an ecumenical setting and to provide free home repairs for homeowners who are unable to maintain their homes because of financial or physical limitations.

Our Goals

• to provide hands to work for Christ, ears to listen as Christ, and hearts to be  changed by Christ

• to expose young people to the needs of their city and their communities and help them to become involved in the lives of others, especially those different from themselves

• to provide free home repairs for individuals and families in need
