welcome to lakeside!

Although Lakeside Church is Baptist by tradition and heritage, in our worship and practice we seek to move beyond the label of a denomination to incorporate the richness of other Christian traditions. In our community service we support many ecumenical ministries that convey God's love and care beyond the lines of any denomination.

We receive members by affirmation of their faith or by transfer from other Christian churches. We honor the previous baptism of persons coming from other Christian denominations.

We, the members of Lakeside, are persons on a journey of faith. Our church seeks to be a worshiping and serving community where the gospel of Jesus Christ is modeled and proclaimed.

    LAKESIDE CALLS NEW SENIOR MINISTER

The Diaconate is delighted to share with you that the Rev. Dr. Libby M. Grammer has accepted the call to be the next Senior Minister of Lakeside Church. Following an overwhelmingly affirmative vote by our church on Sunday, July 14, 2024, Dr. Grammer (Libby) accepted our invitation and shared this important news with her current congregation this week.

Libby has served the last 6 years as the Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Martinsville, VA. She is married to Will Underwood and they have two young daughters, Elena (age 5) and Iris (age 2). The Grammer-Underwood family will begin their transition to Rocky Mount in the coming weeks and Libby will begin her work at Lakeside on August 15 and preach her first sermon here on August 18. We are excited to welcome Libby and her family to Lakeside and to the Rocky Mount community! Continue to follow the Link for announcements of more information about upcoming events at which you will have the chance to meet and welcome the family. Please join us in celebrating this good news, praying for all involved, and seeking God’s continued leadership and provision in the days ahead.
