Wedding Guidelines

A church wedding, because it is solemnized in the church, led by a minister, and accorded the church’s approval, is a sacred and important service of worship. When couples ask to be married in the church it is assumed that they desire not just a place to get married but a Christian service of marriage.

.Where neither bride nor groom is a member of Lakeside Baptist Church, they must be sponsored by a member of the congregation. All such weddings must be arranged by conference with the pastor before they are scheduled. No Sunday weddings will be scheduled. No weddings will be scheduled during Advent (the four weekends before Christmas) because of the church’s Christmas decorations and busy schedule or during Holy Week (the week prior to and including Easter).

.The charge for the use of the Lakeside sanctuary for non-members is $600. A wedding will not be placed on the church calendar until this fee is paid. In the event the wedding is canceled, the fee will be refunded in full.

.The church Fellowship Hall is not available for rental to non-members.

.A member of the Wedding Guild must serve as the Director of the wedding. The fee for this individual’s service is $100 which is included in the wedding fee.

.An organist will have a separate stated fee for wedding services and this arrangement must be worked out between the bride and the organist. The same is true for an instrumentalist or soloist. All guest organists must be approved by Lakeside’s organist.

.The minister also will have a separate fee which should be discussed prior to the service.

.Wedding music used in services at Lakeside should be in keeping with the religious nature of the service. Most popular music is not appropriate for church weddings. All music must be approved by the Wedding Director and one of the ministers of the church.

.Candles are permitted in candelabra in the chancel area but must be “chase candles” which are metal-cased candles which use inserts. All florists have these candles and inserts. If the church’s candelabra are used, there is a small fee for the candle inserts. If a kneeling bench or Trinity Candle is desired, it may be obtained through the florist.

.A dressing room is provided for the bride and bridesmaids in the Educational Building or Music and Youth Building.

.The use of tobacco and alcohol is not permitted on church property.

.Videos of the ceremony are permitted but the videographer is requested to consult with the minister about placement of equipment in order not to detract from the ceremony.

.The use of a professional photographer is encouraged. The taking of pictures is not permitted during the ceremony. Time should be allotted before or after the ceremony for all photography. Family and friends should be encouraged not to take pictures during the ceremony.
