Lakeside is blessed by talented choirs that enrich our Sunday morning worship. The Chancel Choir, a vibrant part of the life of Lakeside, sings music from around the world and across the centuries, from chant and canticles to anthems by Thomas Tallis, Johann Sebastian Bach to more contempoary composers such as Leo Sowerby and John Rutter. Instruction balances warmth and humor with structure and attention to detail, nurturing the development of the musician.
The Chancel Choir is composed of approximately thirty adults. Each Sunday in worship, the choir sings two anthems, an introit, adoration and choral amen/benendiction. During Advent, the choir is joined by instrumentalists from the North Carolina Symphony to perform a major choral work. During Lent and at other times during the year, the choir is joined by outstanding individual vocal and orchestral musicians from across the state. Guest musicians are made possible through the music budget, the Jack Laughery Music Fund, and the Virginia Robertson Music Fund.
The Chancel Choir rehearses on Wednesday evening from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m. We invite you to worship with us and to explore ways to become involved in our liturgical and musical life.
